Advertising Campaign: "The colorful design communicates a particularly palatable appeal," claimed the jury in an advertising campaign competition to promote frozen food when awarding me the third prize. The contest was jointly initiated by the German Institute for Frozen Food and Germany's largest media weekly.

THE COMPETITION

T

he 1996 advertising competition for young designers on behalf of the German Institute for Frozen Food won me the third prize. The organizers had called for ideas for advertising campaigns to promote frozen food.

The contest was jointly initiated together with HORIZONT, Germany's leading weekly paper on marketing, advertising and media.

The jury called my campaign posters "the most unusual of all the entries" in that "the colorful design communicates a particularly palatable appeal."

My campaign motifs visualized catchy slogans like "Access the sea from home" and "Access the bakery from home" with colorful pop art motifs.


My award-winning poster design entry featuring pop art style sea food icons like fish,octopus, shellfish and clams in a colorful setting.

kreiert Frische auf Vorrat
Gutes Niveau beim Nachwuchswettbewerb "Tiefkühlkost ist Frische auf Vorrat" / Drei Sieger

DÜSSELDORF Zum Teil sehr überzeugende Arbeiten prägten den Nachwuchswettbewerb "Tiefkühlkost ist Frische auf Vorrat" – eine gemeinsame Veranstaltung des Deutschen Tiefkühlinstitutes (dti) und von HORIZONT.

So anziehend kann für Tiefkühlkost geworben werden. Den dritten Platz belegte Oliver Weiss aus München.

Die Ausstellung der Exponate anläßlich der Preisverleihung auf der Düsseldorfer Intercool verriet, daß die Jury des erstmalig ausgetragenen Wettbewerbs keine leichte Wahl hatte.

Auch wenn die dargestellten Produkte häufig Fische waren – die Ideenvielfalt überzeugte. Der Jury gehörten an: Manfred Sassen, dti, Hans-Wilhelm Beckmann, August Oetker, Ursula Lanzendorf, McCain, Jörg Pohlmann, Brand Factory, Konrad Wenzel, Huth & Wenzel, Christian Ickstadt, HORIZONT.

Frische, Genuß, Convenience

Die grafischen Resultate waren beachtlich und höchst unterschiedlich, die Idee überall dieselbe: Frische auf Vorrat ist Genuß. In einem Nachwuchswettbewerb für junge Grafiker, den das Tiefkühlinstitut zusammen mit der Zeitschrift "Horizont" ausgeschrieben hatte, empfahlen sich 35 Grafiker als Werber fürs tiefgekühlte Sortiment.

Ihre Arbeiten, ob als Plakat, Anzeigen-Layout oder Storyboard, erwiesen sich als höchst originell und aufmerksamkeitsstark. Unser Beispiel "Das Meer zuhause" ist die Arbeit des dritten Preisträgers, Oliver Weiss aus München. Die Jury fand es "plakativ und illustrativ", dazu "appetitlich und ansprechend".
