The New York Times is my latest client in the editorial illustration realm. My
first pieces were Op-Ed illustrations.
EU Needs to Take on Leadership
My first piece for
The New York Times Op-Ed opinion page is about the feud between Angela
Merkel and Donald Trump, and in particularly about her comment that the free
world has no current leader and that Europe needs to pick up the slack in
steering its own destiny. Merkel already has one foot out the door, and it’s a
very potent image — Germany being pushed towards becoming a superpower.
Germany has had
concerns about Trump from the beginning, articulating them well before the U.S.
elections in November 2016, along with fears over his unpredictability. My b/w
illustration shows a guy plastering EU flags over US flags on a wall.
