Welcome to Oliver Weiss Illustration!

As an editorial illustrator, I aim to create striking hand-drawn images to visualize a given topic and accompany written content in various types of media such as newspapers, magazines, and books.

I use digital and analogue techniques. Stylewise, my work is often whimsical, quirky, satirical, humorous, and funny, employing sweeping lines, bold colours, and a somewhat cartoony style.

I often create cover art or enhance the design of a book or magazine cover, but most of my work takes the form of smaller spot illustrations and full-page or even double-page spreads.

My goal is to enhance the reader’s understanding and engagement with the textual content, and my work can be found in a variety of publications including feature articles, op-ed pages, and more. Publishers commission my artwork to create unique and engaging designs for their publications.

Als Illustrator für Buchverlage und Redaktionen von Zeitschriften und Zeitungen versuche ich, ein Thema oder einen geschriebenen Text nicht nur zeichnerisch eins-zu-eins zu visualisieren, sondern wann immer möglich zugleich eine komplementäre Sichtweise anzubieten, die das Verständnis des Inhalts fördert und den Leser gleichzeitig unterhält.

Meine handgezeichneten Strich­zeichnungen sind oft witzig und humorvoll und kommen bisweilen auch in Gestalt von Cartoons und Karikaturen. Dabei arbeite ich sowohl digital als auch mit Tusche. Oft gestalte ich auch Titelbilder für diverse Publikationen (z.B. Süddeutsche Zeitung, AOK, Der Spiegel, Nature, AAA, New Scientist).
