Mit Sigmund Freud begann Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts die moderne Psychotherapie. Heute gehen jährlich 1,5 Millionen Deutsche zur Therapie, seit 1999 regelt das Psychotherapeutengesetz Ausbildung und Kassenzulassung – 2020 wurde es neu gefasst. Grob lassen die Schulen sich in vier Strömungen einteilen, die sich aber durchaus gegenseitig beeinflussen. Verschiedene Ansätze und Techniken werden vorgestellt, die von bedeutenden Psychotherapeuten entwickelt wurden, darunter Psychoanalyse, Verhaltenstherapie, Familienaufstellung und Gestalttherapie sowie Schlüsselkonzepte wie Kommunikation, Logotherapie, Neurosen, Selbstverwirklichung, Systemtheorie und Tiefenpsychologie. Modern psychotherapy was ignited with Sigmund Freud towards the end of the 19th century. The different schools can broadly be divided into four categories that mutually influence each other. Originally developed for the weekly German newspaper DIE ZEIT, the poster “Therapy Maze” by Oliver Weiss and Katrin Zeug serves as a concise guide through the current landscape of psychotherapy (in German).
